The charm of balloons

I was waiting near a supermarket entrance today evening. It was extremely interesting to watch men and women of different sizes, shapes and ages walk in and out. It was also highly amusing to watch hand-in-hand couples in this summer heat (of course Malls are air conditioned) oblivious of the peeping world, including those in the family way. :D

There were also a few children holding big balloons in hands as if they were their greatest treasure. At that time, a sweet girl of around 6 years who appeared restless was walking to and fro near the entrance. She brought her father to the spot and started pressurizing him, “Appa, the balloon man has gone that side. Come, let’s go…..” The father obliged to her request soon, probably understanding that he stood no chance in convincing her. Holding his finger, she walked away in excitement in search of the balloon man. I stood focused in that direction to see the outcome.

The girl reappeared in 5 minutes with a long balloon in hand. Ah… her face exuded so much of joy and pride as if saying, “See, I too have one now.” She was no longer holding her father’s hand. He was walking alongside talking to someone on mobile. He must have been relieved inwardly that his daughter would not trouble him for sometime. Finally, they entered into the supermarket. I assumed that her mother must be doing purchases inside.

If Atul had come along, I would have laughed with him quoting his antics on balloons, toys etc. Really, the charm of balloons is irresistible, even for adults.

Having tasted roaring success one more time, the balloon man returned to the entrance looking out for healthy prospects.:D And he deserves success again and again.

Dear Padmaja

You will not believe that this was exactly what was running in my mind too a couple of days back as we were blowing balloons for my kids' birthday. I could not understand what happiness it brings to us but it certainly has some kind of attraction. Every kid who attended the party wanted to play with balloons for a while. As you say, even adults are attracted towards it. Your narration of the incident you witnessed was indeed interesting. No wonder it brings pride in the faces of children who hold the balloon and relief in the faces of parents. This is one toy which no parent would refuse to buy for their kids fully knowing that the life of it is only for few days.

Hai,
So nice to hear about balloons. Flying and floating things, always interesting for childrens and as well for adult too. When I am a small boy we used to buy the balloons normally in the local village functions. We thought that we can fill the air in more balloons and we can fly by hanging in the balloons also like parachute. "Life is like a balloon"- short life. Parabolic concept will involve here. We studied in the school days "Parabola". When filling the air in the balloons; we have to think about the "Helium Gas" filled in the big balloons (Air Ships) to fly in the air.
When we are thinking about balloon; definitely we have to think about kite also. This will remember us about the "Aero Dynamics". Kite will fly against the wind. Michael Pharade also invented some of his theories when he used the kites. When lightning happens the power pass through the yawn made for the kite. (You might remember the science stories).
We have to encourage the childrens to study the science by using these kind of science stories whenever we are buying some items relates to that.
When I was a small children; some of the childrens fill up the kerosene in the water gun and will shoot the balloons. After some times the kerosene starts evaporate; the balloon will blast.
All our surroundings based on science only. We should tell the childrens about science in practical way in order to memorize the things.
Nice post to think about all my old days and think a little bit about science.
With regards,
