O my darling!

Fragrance filled the air to announce your birth
Jingle bells rhymed to welcome the joy wonder
Angels of heaven sang in chorus of your arrival
O my darling! Sleep well now without dreams

Your unborn kicks were reasons for my love
Your inborn tricks are causes of my laughter now
Your cry for my attention makes me feel special
O my darling! Sleep well now without fears

Retain this tenderness in your heart always
Sustain your personality of this sweetness ever
Live only a life of vision of your desires
O my darling! Sleep well now without worries

Prattles of toothless gums have tired you enough
Kicks of delicate legs are wearing you more
So rest on my shoulder and close your eyes gently
O my darling! Sleep well now without disturbances

You are neither that beautiful baby on the wall
Nor am I the mother gorgeous to strike a pose
Learn to live with black skin and ugly looks
O my darling! Sleep well now with a smile on your lips

Padmaja,

Wonderful. Reading it the second time, I felt you could've written the last two lines in a different way. Beauty is not skin deep. So what if there is dark skin and not so pleasant looks?

Radha,

Mother's role cannot be replaced by anybody. Thanks for your kind visit and comments.

Ravi,

I meant it only that way as you have stated. You may get the same point if you read those sentences one more time. Just that I've presented harsh reality as it is. :)

Dear Padmaja

A very nice poem. Lots of thoughts filled my mind too when I saw the picture of an innocent baby helplessly resting on the shoulders of its Mom! What a way to pen down your feelings on seeing the picture. Your style is truly expressive and unique. Well done Padmaja!

True Padmaja but...

We are lucky that we marry a girl and she is a mother like person and a mother too!
